05 · Who we are

A driven founder and a close-knit, professional core team.

At ABC you won't find an anonymous chain, but familiar, trusted faces. Our team is carried by qualified sports coaches and passionate guides. We are a small, committed team that truly takes the time to get to know your child, to challenge them physically every week and to let them land safely, mentally too. We don't simply look after children when school is out; we put them in their power, with full conviction. Our team grows organically with the sports campus, but what has bound us from day one: an unconditional passion for developing talent, and the fact that as children we would all have loved an ABC Sport BSO of our own!

The face behind ABC Sport BSO

Nathaniël Manubulufather, triathlete, hockey player and founder.

With twenty years of experience in operational management (at VolkerWessels, Geveke, Enexis and SKK, among others) I know how to organise complex processes tightly and safely. I now use that background to create an environment for your child that is professional and cared for down to the smallest detail. But my real passion? That lies along the line and on the pitch.

As a devoted athlete and active volunteer at my two children's sports club (as a committee member, youth trainer and coach) I saw a wide gap in practice. I saw children switching between four sports because one sport is never enough, and I saw after-school care that barely spent an hour a week on movement. In my eyes, something had to fit in between.

In my own words
"I'm creating the place where I would want to be myself and that I wish for my own children. An environment where children learn to move broadly, in a professional setting you can trust completely. That place didn't exist here yet, so I decided: then I'll create it myself."

The core team

Familiar faces, the same ones, week in, week out.

No rotating shifts, no stand-ins. Your child sees the same people every afternoon, and those people know your child. We start with the core team below and grow alongside the number of groups; everyone is ASM-trained before they take a group.

Jens van der Zee

Site lead & sports coach
education
BSc Sports Studies (Hanze UAS) · ASM in progress
own sport
Football
Freshly graduated in Sports Studies, bringing valuable experience from youth projects at FC Groningen and ACV Assen among others. As site lead he is building our new location with full energy; his speciality is the mental guidance and personal development of young athletes.
“Every child is different. The art is creating a safe environment where children happily dare to make mistakes, so they gradually dare to take on more responsibility of their own.”

Claire de Vries

Sports coach & pedagogical professional
education
MBO level 4 Sport & Movement (trainer/coach) · Anwärter diploma (ski instructor)
own sport
Hockey · skiing
Fresh out of her Sport & Movement training and an adventurous season as a ski instructor in Austria. Over the past five years Claire has also earned her stripes as a passionate youth hockey coach. She gets a huge amount of energy from being active with children and guiding their growth. She always makes sure there is a good atmosphere in the group, in which everyone dares to take on challenges at their own pace.
“My biggest drive is seeing children have fun, learn something new and dare a little more each time. Most important of all is that every child in our group can be completely themselves.”

The organisational force on our field
For our innovative sports campus we are looking for an enterprising sports professional who brings a wealth of organisational experience and likes to take the lead. Do you believe in the enormous impact sport has on children's development? With us you won't work in traditional childcare: you'll actively help build the new standard in after-school talent development, in a dynamic environment. You'll put your organisational skills to work streamlining our daily Sport Tracks, with room to specialise further within the Athletic Skills Model (ASM). A unique chance for a true pioneer who takes the initiative to build something beautiful together.

Basecamp Host

The warm heart of our clubhouse
For our clubhouse we are looking for a warm, reliable face who turns it into a second home for children and parents alike. After school, children first come in to land: you are the person they come home to, and the familiar face for parents at drop-off and pick-up. You keep the clubhouse homely and inviting, are there for the start of the afternoon and help close the day calmly and neatly.

What binds us

Three things everyone here chooses.

Fun first

We don't measure performance. We count how often a child smiles, how long they keep running around the hall, how freely they choose.

Craft, not volunteering

Mentors have both training and a sports background. Trainees work under guidance. No rotating shifts, no stand-ins.

Honest about what we're not

We're not a gym. Not an assessment system: children get no grades, no levels and no rankings here. Not a stepping stone to the Olympics. But a place where children learn to move broadly, and where you as a parent see what your child has done.
Partners & institutions

We are not building this alone.

From the city's sports body to the university of applied sciences: these parties and institutions help build the sports campus in Assen. The list grows as partnerships become final.
